TLJ/09/0316 Kaschke v Osler

If anybody wants to come along to show support, I’ll be in the Starbucks on the other side of the road from about 1000 onwards, with my wonderful Tory Boy lawyer Robert Dougans, the man who did the business for Simon Singh. First round after the proceedings is on me.

In a meeting in Coventry, currently, but wishing you the best of luck, Dave. Hope it goes well. Mine would’ve been a Guinness with an Islay Malt chaser ;-)

  2. I hope and trust that justice will be done. I’ll cross everything and listen for the distant sound of Eady J laughing the case out of court.

  3. Here’s hoping that this idiotic libel case is given the contempt it deserves.

  4. Very best of luck. Hopefully the cross-over of personnel with the Singh case augurs well for you.

  5. All the best, comrade, from all of us at Shiraz. I for one am with you in spirits.

  6. Dave, all the very best from Calder Valley . Susan Press

The RDP (Revolutionary Druids Party – Wales’ leading Marxist grouping) is on the side of the Osler One at this conjuncture.

“Rock Steady – Against Judge Eady” ~ as they/we sing in the Valleys after ten pints.

  8. We’re dying to know – how did it go?

  9. All the best, Dave.

All you need to do is shout “Simon Singh v BCA!” at the judge and you automatically win. OK?

BTW, IANAL so best pass that by the excellent Times Lawyer of the Week sitting next to you.

Having sat through the morning session, it occurred to me that I am blest. I know why I am not a success, I lack team spirit, I have no head for any sort of figure work, I prefer to stay in the warm and dry. Any failures on my part are purely down to myself. There is no-one else I can blame (apart from my parents and they are not sueable). One of my very first jobs was working in a bookshop attached to a socially aware campaign group. I remember a crank who came in regularly to cmplain that his whole life had bee blighted by people refusing to accept that he was NOT the illegitimate son of Edward VIII. He had lost his pension, he had been cashiered out of te army, he had been put in a lunatic asylum, all because people could not accept that he was not the illegitimate son of the Duke of Windsor. I assured him that I at least believed him (and no doubt everyone else too did) but it was to no avail. He was possessed of an idea fixe. You ust can’t win with some people.

Sue: can you be a bit more specific about the outcome (if any)?

I left before any decision was reached. I wouldn’t want to write the wrong thing anyway, so I’ll leave it up to Dav.

The word from the lawyer is “Whatever you say, say nothing”.

This morning I prayed to my new “glow in the dark” Nick Clegg faith icon for truth and justice (£25.00 from the Guardian c/o Rev Martin Kettle)…

It’s ALL going to be OK…

WE all are on a journey…mind the gap.

Judgement is reserved on the strike out application. So we have to wait for the decision. There were a number of grounds for strike out of parts and all of the case . If not its a jury trial later in the year .

Even if there is a strike out, Dave may still have to pay some costs due to delays caused when he gained a legal team.

It was a very long day , thanks to all those who turned up to offer support . Thanks also to Robert Duggan and David Allen Green for their legal support, all pro bono.

Was the cake alright? ‘fraid it was two tiers short of a full gateau, it didn’t rise. But in this game, you’re only as good as your last cake. Is Dave familiar with ‘The Lost Honour of Katerina Blum’ by Heinrich Boll?.
