SWP and Big Brother Carole

Mirror political editor Kevin Maguire – a man to watch under the Brown prime ministership, I’m told – cites this extract from an SWP internal document in his New Statesman diary column this week:
Trot tantrums in the SWP’s weekly party notes under the intriguing head “Revolutionaries and Big Brother”. Walthamstow comrade Carole Vincent seemingly misunderstood the concept of entryism, following the miaowing Respect MP George Galloway by entering the dysfunctional Channel 4 home. “At no point did Carole consult the SWP leadership about joining the programme,” declares the commissar, “and it is not part of our strategy to enter BB in order to manipulate the media.”
What? How dare she? Before you know it, SWPers will be deciding on their holiday destinations without asking the central committee first. And then where will ‘the party’ be?

Galloway didnt consult the SWP before he turned into a six days a week chat show host.
But she hasn’t really done anything to manipulate the media while she’s been on Big Brother. Mostly all she’s done is whinge about towels. Hardly a riveting 7-day-a-week political debate.
Here’s an SWP ally with a media column.
Oh its the ubiquitous MP with yet more analysis.

Well entering BB is something with political context, and she should have discussed it with other people.
It is hardly outrageous to expect your members not to behave in a way that brings the party into disrepute.
one rule for the leaders (Galloway) another for the led (Carole Vincent)?
Bsolutely.
They have no control over Galloways thirst for cash whatsoever.
John Rees being interviewed about the shortage of toilet paper in the Big Brother house, when Galloway was in there, was about about as low as it gets.
It can go lower. Galloway writes:
I have a Big Sister in the house, anti-war activist Carole. But my eye has focused on Chanelle. The pulchritudinous 19-year-old has surely secured her future as a face.
As pretty as a picture and with a strong provincial accent, she is as fragrant as the flower she looks.
The main problem is she’s lumbered, and to a pretty boy called Ziggy who no doubt spends more time in front of the mirror than she.
Dirty old bastard. No doubt he´ll be leering all over the poor woman (I mean “conducting an in-depth interview”) when she gets out of the Channel 4 prison.
I agree with Andy, I think the SWP have a point here – if you are a member of a revolutionary organisation (which the SWP calls itself) you should conduct yourself in a way that doesn’t reflect badly on the organisation. It’s called party discipline and it means consulting party organisers before doing certain things, and I think appearing in Big Brother would certainly be one of them. As for the hypocrisy over Galloway, he’s got them over a barrel, particularly as his public pronouncements make it quite obvious that if he were asked to rejoin the Labour Party, he would. Hardly a Lafontaine figure.
Lafontaine has often (also since he got involved in party politics again after joining the WASG/PDS) made clear he would be willing to rejoin the SPD if it changed direction towards (not very left-ish) social democracy similar to that of the Willy Brandt era – above all, if they would be willing to accept him as leader (again).
my bet is that Carole Vincent won’t be in the SWP a year hence
where is Snowball when you need him? he could clear up the matter in a tick
You couldn’t make it up, could you?
Galloway will finish off the Respect project – another five years of wasted effort by parts of the Left. He, Sheridan and others come over as just chancers out for themselves. Maybe they aren’t. But BB is the sort of garbage that noone on the Left should associate with.
In the meantime, things can only get worse, eh?
‘It is hardly outrageous to expect your members not to behave in a way that brings the party into disrepute.’
Seeing that the swuppies have been cheerleaders for ‘anti-imperialist’ butchers such as Milosevic and Saddam, the SWP has already brought disgrace upon itself.
Well, for me sins, I’ve watched some of the Big Bro’ drivel and frankly – what a complete load of utter wank.
If things get worse? Have they not got pretty bad already?
‘Spode’ Galloway and his Green Shorts, in a New Party – onwards and upwards – to lead Britain (the fat shyster is said to be sniffing around launching a Scottish Respect).
